owl

Something from my NaPoWriMo archives. Yes, yes, no eyeballs.

owl

like clockwork
the gastric pains
wake me up
again
and i don't even
look at the time
anymore
but i guess 2:59 a.m.
is quite close.

i look
for that little packet
of white pills,
make my way to
the kitchen
for some self medication.
then i stand at the window
talking to the night
convinced that
in my past life
i was an owl
or a shark.

I like this page from an ordinary life, and the ending humor. Well done.

Oh, it is really hard to be awakened like this in the middle of the night....especially when one can almost expect it to happen. At least one knows the remedy & one can speak to the night while one waits until the pills take effect again and allow one to sleep that blessed sleep again!

2:59 why is it that things always happen around 3:00 am? I often wake from a sound sleep at that time. At least there is wisdom in being an owl even if they are nocturnal creatures.

I'm an owl too, and like communing with the night from my kitchen window. I didn't realise sharks were nocturnal too, but Google confirms it. Perhaps pain makes one feel more sharkish than owly?

Cuban,

Not sure probiotics are working for me hope they are for you, if that is what you are on! If you were an owl you wouldn't give a hoot, would you?

Howdy! This post couldn't be written any better!
Reading through this article reminds me of my
previous roommate! He always kept preaching about this.
I will send this information to him. Fairly certain he's going to have a great read.
I appreciate you for sharing!

Beverly,

thank you! :)

Mary,

yes, the worst is one can almost expect it to happen. so i changed sleep positions, sleep earlier or later, anything that i thought might help. Not much. only those tiny pills from the doctor.

Truedessa,

and it is the hour when one is in deep sleep. :(
things have gotten better now, i don't need those pills anymore. perhaps because i don't worry about work anymore, and i am watching my diet.

Rosemary,

you too, talking with the night? :)
It's good we can learn stuff from poetry!
i like what you said about feeling more sharkish than owly when in pain. makes me chortle. :D

Robin,

i am not too sure about probiotics, probably didn't help much, as i think it was about acidity. later i drank green tea, and i think that helps.
yes, if i am an owl, probably i wouldn't give a hoot. :D
