sparrow

Another one from the NaPoWriMo archives. I think this one is worth sharing again.

sparrow

the schoolgirl
hopped onto the bus
like a sparrow,
chirpy, full of energy
her ponytail swinging.
she was maybe
all of six years old
she took the seat
in front of me
smiling
looking at the
blue morning sky
and then she said

it's a beautiful morning

and me
cynical, angry
two days worth of stubble
needed a six year old kid
to make me see
the sunlight.

Oh yes... we do need the child to point it out for us... a bit like the emperor's new clothes with another twist.

Oh yes, it's a delight! I think all your readers will see and hear her too, and get that instant lift of the spirits. I know I did.

We often fail to appreciate waking up to face a new day. What a beautiful poem you have shared again and again for us; it is so worth while.

Oh, kids can certainly help lift the gloom and cynicism that clouds our vision through their innocence and wonderments about the world.
A lovely verse.
