the four sisters
The below poem has been sitting in my thumb drive for some time. Perhaps I took too long to ponder?
painting by Rick Mobbs
the four sisters
"Can we not raise our hands in anger?
beat our swords into ploughshares instead?"
and Peace
raises her hands and releases the white petrel
where it circles the storm clouds
says Hope
and the golden flame in her hand
flickers but still burns strongly in the wind
says Love
and the stalk of red rose
bends with the wind but does not break
says Faith
and her hands cup the the sunrise
weighing the golden orb of the growing sun
and they look at the grey skies turning black
the sea sneering and scattering the dunes
and they are not afraid.

I am glad you brought this poem to us today. We need to listen to these 'sisters' named Peace, Hope, Love, and Faith. We all must keep up the good fight....and not be afraid of the grey skies. We must work hard though that they do not blacken further. I hope there is still time.
Such beautiful imagery. And what hopeful sentiments. I wish for all of those things. Just beautiful, Lee San.
love this, the rhythm and insistence on response
I love your use of Love, Hope, Peace, and Faith as 4 sisters. Especially, as I never look at Peace being feminine, more a part of Faith and Hope. Thank you, for sharing this poem.
Oh my! This is perfection!
owOOOOOOOO! They are not afraid. And yet, despite them, the end might come. And yet they live and hold each other and act. This is the paradox of our time.
WOW! You were at the place then... Excellent piece.

Mary,
keep up the good fight, we must. :)
Sherry,
some prompts are like that, they inspire. it was a very good painting. Peace, Love and Hope came almost immediately to the mind. Faith came a little later. :)
Chrissa,
thank you! :)
Therisa,
in Greek or Roman mythology, Peace is often personified as female. but anyway, the end result is what we are looking for.
thank you for the visit. :)
Bev,
thank you! :)
Susan,
true, we live in uncertain times. but we have Hope. :)
We need this sentiment more than ever. Peace, Love, Hope, Faith. I feel the sisters being shunned by our leaders. Thanks for reminding us that they are there.
I like what you did with this!!
ZQ,
i was? ;)
Sarah,
thank you. Our leaders are courting dominance, power & money. :(
thank you, annell. :)
Yes, we so desperately need those four sisters.
Its interesting that these four sisters are featured here together. Very often we tend to burden obe or the other. Luv the harmony that they bring to your poem and in turn to us readers
Happy you dropped by my Sunday Standard this week
Much🎀love

glad to see you! :)
Gorgeous. Thanks. :-)
I am glad these sisters are not afraid, unlike many if us. No doubt they can help us to overcome our fear too, if we embrace them.
Cuban,
thank you! :)
Rosemary,
we need all the help we can. :)
I absolutely love this! I am 1 of 4 sisters...we each are stronger. This speaks to me about the world and it speaks to me about my sisters. May I share this?
