birthday

on this day
we would be drinking,
of course.
your cocktails,
my beer.

maybe even pub crawl
if we are
feeling rich.

then again
perhaps just a burger
at mcdonald's

and we would
light our cigarettes
blowing smoke rings
in the night

my hands on
your slim waist
and you would giggle
your girlish giggle
knowing
what i want.

on this day
we would...

floots, polona, & andrew,
thanks, folks!
this poem was written in a very short span of time. a flash of inspiration, i may add. hardly much editing, almost like the first draft on paper. somehow, drawing on past memories inspires.

looks like my creative energies are back. :)

:)

i always remember the little crazy things we used to do.

i like the part about mcdonald's because at that time we were not well-off.

Deceptively simple, but not one word too many, punchy, and truly melancholy.

Great stuff again, Dr Snake :)

"not one word too many" : i like that, Ario. :) i think my better poems are mostly quite brief.
