why i must slog on
i work
just to put something on the table
pay the bills
that are strewn on the sofa
like so many fallen leaves.
damn. $95.12 for utilities only?
how lucky.
my kid, in secondary three
thrusts her physics book at me.
flunked her test.
there's another one next week.
what, and you want a webcam?
how much? a hundred and what?
i don't see the....
We go through her books
as if i was back at school
though the day at the office was rotten
this chore i have to slog through
ah girl
can you explain
why $48.30 for SMS?
i work
just to put something on the table
ok it might come in styrofoam boxes
but it's edible.
daddy, not chicken rice again?
i want KFC.
chicken is chicken, dear. chicken rice only $2.50
and by the way, how was the physics test?
you won't want to know, dad.

And yet, those years, when kids are at home, are the best years. I was a single mom of four, so I know that slog. I once thought I existed only to bring brown paper bags of groceries through the front door. They were very vital years, though not easy.
Oh... there is a sweetness of the chores and the children... Knowing this was an old one I hope it went well both with the bills and the school.
It's not so bad! I think it's a delightful serio-comic look at family life with its joys and struggles, which had me reminiscing a bit. (Nice to remember when one is no longer in the middle of the struggles.) And I love the Watterson quote! And of course the jaunty drawing.
No not very good but, realistic. Life doesn't always hand us roses. We slog on because we must. Glad you are better now!
Sounds like real life. Lots just slog on from pay check to pay check! Glad you are in a better place now!
And now I'm having family discussion flashbacks... :)
This really tugs upon my heart!❤️ All that matters at the end of the day is joy and quality time spent with family.
Sherry,
those may be tough years, but you won't want to exchange it for anything else. to watch them grow from clueless to rebellious to near adulthood, when they can take care of themselves, i think, those feelings are hard to describe. :)
Bjorn,
haha, fortunately, it went quite well. :)
Rosemary,
Thank you! joys and struggles indeed.
the drawing, at one time she was big on pokemons. :)
Toni,
thank you!
life doesn’t always hand us roses, and sometimes all we grab are just the thorns. :)
Mary,
ah, pay check to pay check! those were the days too. :)
Chrissa,
:D
Thank you, Sanaa!
yes, quality time spent with the family. :)
I'm truly enjoying the design and layout of your blog.
It's a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more enjoyable for me to come
here and visit more often. Did you hire out a developer to create your theme?
Fantastic work!
Thank you, Anon.
No, there is no out-sourcing. just use the design templates that Blogger provides. I am still using the old "classic " themes. The newer layout themes and templates are much easier to use. :)
