after a rain
I wrote and posted this poem a few years back, on this blog. This poem was inspired by a song, November Rain.

after a rain
sometimes
i find joy
in solitude
but do not
mistaken it
for
loneliness
because
i hear
the quiet
of leaves
falling
like dew
feel the ebb
of sea waves
caressing
shifting sands
unwilling yet
to yield
and i
shelter
in the dark
like bats
seeking
moonlight
waiting
the acrid
ash
of anger
to
sink to
an abyss
then
like a rush
of fresh wind
after
a rain
face the world
again.

the quietness of leaves falling like dew...love that...and the breath after the rain....the world smells so fresh in that moment....
i like the images, very fresh.. and november rain is a great song, no wonder it inspired you.
so refreshing, just like after a rain... your poem calms me, helps me breathe again after a stressful week - i too find joy in solitude...
Excellent!
Missed you last week. You'll have to post a picture for consolation when you are not around :-)

Truly a lovely poem! Such a difference between the benefits of solitude and the heavy feeling of loneliness.
So beautiful, Lee San - I especially love "I hear the quiet of leaves falling", and the renewal felt at the end.
So very true that solitude and loneliness are two different things!

Liz,
i liked the word "awesomeness". :)
nothing beats the rain in freshening things up a bit, isn't it? especially in our type of climate.
