shape poem : gecko

gecko
it waddles
on
the
dust
coated
wall
defying
gravity
taking its sweet
sweet
time
then
it turns
its head
its black
beady eyes seem to
l o o k
m o c k
we survived
millions of
years
you
reptile
and all i can do is blow a fuse
and wave a rolled-up newspaper at it.

Shared on Poetry Pantry #163 at Poets United. The problem with shape poetry is that sometimes it does not displays well on a monitor. I hope there's no problem here. :)

Very clever. I love the shape. And I DO love geckos. We don't have them where I live, but I enjoy them greatly when I am where they reside!! You have characterized them well.
You haven't linked your poem. I tried to link it, but I can only pick up the link to your entire blog....not your specific poem. I hope you will see this and put in a link!
Mary, thank you!
so sorry, i thought i have linked the post when i went over to PU to visit. must be the bad day at work today. :)
in the tropics here, we have house geckos at our homes [ (no, not as pets. :) ]. i tolerate them as they help to zap away unwelcome insects.
i like to do shape poetry once a while. it's quite challenging.
ha. nice...we used to have a lot of these when we lived in florida....my cat tried to think the population for snack time but did not even make a dent...ha....cool structure....
I have experienced these house geckos when in Hawaii. I always liked them, thinking of them as bringing good luck. Smiles.
Oh, clever, apt, fun, and pointed. Well penned ~ M
Brian,
your cat put a big smile on my face this morning...:D
Mary,
they bring good luck? i shall not shoo them out of the house again. :)
grapeling,
thank you for the visit. :)
Oh cleverly done! Don't think the human race will survive a million years...so the geckos' really have reasons to mock!
Anna :o]
I absolutely loved my visit to your blog and will look out for your poetry henceforth. Loved your shape poem which was both visually stimulating and profound.
nice shape poem :)
Anna,
yeah, not at the rate the human race is going about its business.
the geckos, cockroaches, rats will outlive us. :)
ninotaziz,
thanks for the visit and encouraging words. i will look out for your poetry too. you have a great blog as well. :)
Sumana Roy,
thank you!
I don't have a problem with geckos except for the mess they make.
:D Nice one, dsnake.
This is really clever. I especially love how the poem is the shape of a gecko......and it's amusing, the human response to it, in closing.
Liz,
i don't have a problem with them too, but sometimes they "bomb" my floor tiles..:)
Sherry,
thank you. glad you find the ending amusing. i had to clean up after them. :)
