colours

I wanted to enter haikuworld's Special January 2009 "Toku" kukai in honour of William J. Higginson. The theme was "Colours" or the name of a colour. I missed the deadline by a couple of days.

I wondered how my works would have fared if I had sent them in. :)

All are very vivid as you intended.

You should have sent them. I think that last one had a good chance of winning.

gautami,
thank you! i am very satisfied with these 3 i wrote. :)

i think the last one has a vivid image. the inspiration came during a cycling trip. a truck backfired and the crows and mynahs flew off in all directions. :)

polona,
you should have submitted to this kukai. :)

i was held up by work and when i wanted to submit them, i realised the deadline was over. :(

Like Polona I love the crayons. You should submit them for publication some where.

Great theme: colour (and goes with the "art" theme circulating for a post a lot of did.)

I like the contrast among this group of haikus and the progression, as if from a child (carefree playing/exploring) to teen or adult(love/rapture) to adult responsibility (where those rainbows are obliterated as well as the red flames of love)

Each, conjures up vivid colors even more than what is said

"rainbow" "lips" "shrapnel"

Gel,
thanks for your comment!

yes, i read your recent post and coincidentally it's also on colours. that's telepathy or what! :)

now that you mentioned it, it does look like a progression from childhood to adulthood. that's the beauty of writing. sometimes the reader see things the writer don't.

dang, i should have sent the whole lot in. :D
