new year

At times, we can't wait for 2008 to be over. It's like a bad trip. We are still reeling from the global financial meltdown. Natural disasters rolled on one after another. The terrorists attacks at Mumbai hit so much closer to home when one of our citizens perished. There isn't much sunshine around.

Let's hope 2009 will be a much better year, though most soothsayers are not too optimistic. (for us Chinese, our Lunar New year will be less than a month away)

Cheers!

how fast time moves

how fast time moves
when you are older
but not much wiser

so tonight i will
just raise a beer
or two

have some time to
myself when the new
greets the old

dances and songs
and fireworks are
for the younger

i had my time
in the streets
in the early hours

so maybe i will
just quietly sing
an auld lang syne

switch on the lights
in the house
so that this new year

will be a one
fill with light...

2008 was, on a personal note, a bumpy roller coaster ride for me, too. I'm praying for a less stressful 2009, at the very least. ;)

May blessings come your way, dear.
