a december morning

Compared to the previous post, this one is a letdown. Though it is a benign week at the office, words are hard to come by.

This is something about the rains last month. You might be bored by it already.

flats in the morning

a december morning

a december morning
wet and grey
reflected in a pane
of water
in the parking lot
on its face
the face
of the sky
rolling cumulus
lining up for another deluge

behind me the flats
warm cocoons
reluctantly stirring
as lights flicked on
doors opening || closing
last night's rain
still
dripping from roofs
from parapets

as a stray cat
padded across my path
across fallen leaves
and twigs
arched its back
stretched its claws
a grin on its feline face
the face
of an urban guerilla.

Pat,
they are survivors all right! there's a bunch of them at my block and sometimes they disappeared for a while and then resurfaced, just like guerillas. :)

hi magiceye
it was supposed to be a rant! glad u like it. :D

polona,
thank you. :)
the weather over here is pretty freaky.

floots,
it has been raining cats and dogs recently, so our feline friend making an appearance is quite appropriate. :)

I don't think it's a letdown at all -- very nice!

Hi ds,
Not bored in the least!
Enjoyed entire poem- has quite the feel/tone of the effect of these rains I imagine from across the ocean.
Particularly like "Parking lot on its face.../sky rolling cumulus and later the "face of an urban guerilla"

funny. I was just writing something about the rain. Don't know if I'll post it yet. :-)

I enjoy anything you write, you always got an insight somewhere in your writes.

andrew,
thank you!

GEL,
glad you enjoyed the poem. always value your comments. writing for readers like you guys makes the effort so worthwhile. :)

Liz,
please post your piece and let us have a read. :)

the idea for this piece came one morning on my way to work. funny how inspiration can come at any time. sometimes you squeeze your brain and nothing comes out. :)
