trying to write a poem

It's getting harder to write something that makes sense these past days. The pencil hovers over the paper, the fingers rest on the keyboard. That's about all.

Try to enjoy the following piece. :)

trying to write a poem

it took me
a full hour
to write these
few words
maybe
there was more
but i thought
i deleted
them away
it was
so simple
anyway
i am not
too sure
it's 1 a.m.
plus
and i can't sleep
i am trying
hard not to
notice
that last
cigarette
in the box
as i try to
write
the Greatest Poem

in the world
but it won't
happen now

work has a
nasty way
of emptying
your brain

polona,
sometimes, the harder i try, the more difficult it is to write something. then it's time to play some video games. :)

floots,
happened to you too? i can understand the part about "it nearly killed me." :)

glad you like the picture too. :)

alson,
hey bro, where have you been? i know you are in no mood to write anything after writing reports the whole day. :)

the theme for our next poetry writing contest, " poetry" itself?
it will be tough, don't say i didn't warn you. :)

Oh, yes. I think we all can relate to that.

I sometimes try to get myself going with a bit of prose freewriting. But if that doesn't help, I just admit defeat and accept that it's not a poetry day.

Sometimes our brain just needs to switch off. Sometimes you just need to think and let be before the next poem.

ario,
yes, sometimes, we have to accept that it's not a poetry day. (or week or month, gasp!):)

it's best then to switch off for a while.

gautami,
i am still amazed at your output, day after day of quality posts.
i can never do that. :)
