heavy metal
flapped in
from the storm"

heavy metal
the sky was rocking
heavy metal,
clouds bruised
blue black,
as white light slashed
across its face
it growled
as in pain.
i leaned at the window
watched
as my cigarette smoke
curled outside
to die
in the rain.

Yummy! It deserves to be one of your favourites; it's a beaut (as we say in Australia). It's so good it gives me shivers and makes my teeth curl.
Quite a vivid imagery. Well written!

Sometimes the music needs room to be loud and rage, especially when we must be silent elsewhere.
Rosemary,
yes, it was one of those poems that 'wrote itself'. It was a long time ago, and i remembered i was at my apartment window watching this storm brewing.
Khaya,
Thank you! :)
Rommy,
yes, like it's at a really wild rock concert! :)
I can see why it's a favorite. It's a beautiful bit of the realism Rosemary has described.
Thank you, Beverly! :)
Love your word choices, the images they storm into being, the play of light and dark...
... and this will be one of my favorites. Beautifully composed. November quickly coming.
The last stanza is a beauty. Even though I don't smoke. :-)
Captures a moment so succinctly. Great description of the weather.
