Father's day

All right, I know Father's Day was last week. But it is pretty difficult to squeeze out words recently. So I will post something that I have (yes, you guessed right!) written some time back.

I am trying to work on the GPA competition poems, but at this rate, it looks like the deadline will just breeze by...

Father's Day card

from a hand-made card by my daughter

Father's Day

Father's Day was plodding on and going out,
      didn't gave a damn
so commercialised was it,
ads hammering away on TVs,
      papers,
so jaded i forgot it was today,
      until my dear little girl
           hugged me
and
gave me a bunch of three plastic flowers
she said she made herself
      specially for
           me
      for Father's Day
and you look into
those proud eyes of hers
      you know
all your sleepless nights
your mad days in the office
all your love,
      was all worthwhile.

Mother's Day is more commercialized than Father's Day it seems. Fathers don't keep track of things like this either it seems, not the ones I know anyway. :) I think your daughter's card is kewl, you can see she's got artistic sense.

Liz,
there's very little ads for Father's day compared to Mother's day this year, maybe the retailers realised that there's little business in FD.:)
i wrote this one some time back and at that time, the ads were still strong.

>>I think your daughter's card is kewl.
you should have seen the cards she made for her Japanese on-line friends!

>> GPA. see, one month just breezed by.. :)

andrew,
thanks! I will have to find 5 to 8 poems for the competition, because that's the number of submissions needed in the English poetry section. :)
