Photo-Poetry Challenge: Photo 9
And with this, the Photo-Poetry Challenge is completed, although this piece has passed the deadline. It was quite a , well, challenge doing it, but good exercise too. What's next?

After the girl had jumped from the roof
After the girl had jumped from the roof,
after the forensic techies had taken the photos
and measured the point of impact
and the police had set up a cordon and
kept the neighbourhood hounds at bay,
that there was a suicide note on her and the rumours
buzzed around, it was a boy, no it was her studies,
after the undertakers had carted her to the morgue
hauling the body bag like a load of rubbish,
as the cleaners were jet-spraying the blood off the concrete
and the grass where she had laid like in slumber,
someone found her shoes in the void deck
neatly stacked,
arranged,
as if she was
about
to leave
home.

Go dsnake!!!!
builds up to a terrible sense of loss thanks to the bathos in those last few words
well done
The last few words will rest in my mind for a long time. The imagery is so strong and tender. They conjur up the girl for me.
medusa,
so the gloomy stuff didn't frightened you off?
Thanks for your encouragements.
But i had enough of this world cup!
floots,
thank you!
at first i baulk at posting this piece, but these unfortunate and sad incidents do happen.
hi Liz,
thanks for your comments.
When i read about such things in the papers, sometimes i wonder, is there no other way out.
Strange you should ask. But we're all too familiar with the crazy education system in Singapore and the stress it brings onto teachers, students and parents. Its a vicious cycle. I got a chance to teach for a year in a secondary school after I graduated, and the system really turned me off. Its horrible I suppose, for me to say that I'm kinda hardened to it all?
Interesting.
Congratulations, you've finished your challenge! *cheers* :D
medusa,
i see my kid struggling with her homework and i'm worried. the amount of stuff to study and the pressure to pass. Maybe everyone's expecting too much. everyone's stressed.
liz,
thanks! you are the inspiration for the challenge, remember? :)
Can imagine how u feel, its toughest thing being a parent. All I can say is, as long as she's happy n excited about going to school, its a good sign :)
I have so many friends like you...all suffering; worried cos they see their kids struggling.
But actually kids are very adaptable and can cope if the parents love them and give them the positive belief that they can :)
The ones who go under or totally lose it - its cos the parents/school push too hard without caring how the kid is really feeling inside :(
Have faith!
yeah friend, you nailed it. i guess a lot of parents are also affected by the system. i never really push her too hard for good grades. as long as she's excited and happy about going to school, and i know she's doing her best, i am happy.
thank you! :)
How truly tragic...kue
