A lifetime, and an instant...

fourteen words

rain,
always,
on someone's
funeral,
but
not as cold
as the night
you
left.

The prompt at Friday Writings #194 asks us to "share 14 loving words, or words about love – any kind of love, for anyone or anything".

And another fourteen words :

" her hands in mine
warm as morning's light,
there was no need for words "

partially from : "and a time for love" by dsnake1

Oh, that first 14 words gave my heart a pang, and brought sudden tears to my eyes. Exquisite use of the economy of words! The second 14, though it has the heartache too, softens that a little with the warmth and tenderness of the specific memory. Beautifully done, altogether.

Rosemary,

'Fourteen" in our dialect can sound like "misfortune" so it is quite appropriate for this poem, and yes, it can be read as a love poem.
I am glad the poem can move the reader.

Priscilla,

Thank you! 😀

Jae,

Thank you! 😀
