poetry lesson #4
pencil sketch by dsnake1
poetry lesson #4
the humid air hangs with
distractions
how to write a poem now
any poem.
and there are other nudges.
why, i just made my video hitman
drove all over the seedy town
then to take out a mob boss,
it was messy but the job was done.
and i just realised
all my rock heroes
are now dead or old men,
their beards fashionable
but grey,
and now the guitars have
been passed to
five pretty Japanese girls
in maid outfits
to save rock.
it's sick!
and that poem
is still nowhere around
so i poured myself
a glass of wine (yes, wine now)
and send my hitman out again
to look for UFO parts.
and that poem?
the lady vocalist in
the youtube video
her gestures, her face,
her moles
reminds me of someone
i missed dearly.
i hit the replay button,
i feel like crying
and so
the poem will wait.

What a dilemmas. Thinking about sending a hitman to track down a poem. My poem today is called HIT PUBLSIH.
colleen,
love your poem today, i think it's also a lesson on writing poetry.
yeah, being a poet is tough. π
Luv the progression of this poem, sounds like you were playing a video game, except when the tears came crying down in the final stanza.
Your sketches i always enjoy, you should link up at

Happy Sunday
Thanks for dropping by my blog today
Muchπlove
Your poem is beyond clever and thoroughly entertaining. I loved reading it, in fact I read it twice.
.....and so will we !
I always find poems about not being able to create poems interesting. It's one of the best ways, I think, for the muse to fight back (for the hitman to the job done?).
I am sure many of us poets will have sympathy for you if this really was you. However the style and content were delightful and good advice to us all to be inventive when writing,
I think if I was a gamer, I might never write poems at all! (It's bad enough being distracted by novels and Netflix.) But the wine ... that can help.
Gillena,
i was.
if there is no inspiration to write yet, i may go and play video games, watch youtube, or take a walk.
thank you for liking the sketch. it's a pencil sketch on art paper.
thank you for the link to paintpartyfriday. i have bookmark the url and will be browsing there later. π
Helen,
Thank you!
i must be doing something right. π
Beverly,
thank you for the patience. π
Magaly,
haha!
it's funny how we can write a poem about not being able to write a poem. yah, i think it's one of the best way the muse can fight back. as for the hitman, hmmm...
Robin,
thank you!
it's partly autobiographical.
that's sometimes how my mind wanders. π
Rosemary,
sometimes the poem comes back with a vengeance after a little distraction. and the wine helps.. π
Excellent writings dSnake. Engages one to think about frustration, especially creative block.. I am pleased to join in at P&SU in this new year. Hope itβs a good one for all
Rob,
Thank you! hopefully, those creative blocks are few and far between.
it's good to see you back in P&SU. It will be a good new year for all. there will be much healing and catching up to do..
I've gotten lost in YouTube videos and memories when I ought to be writing instead. But as you've pointed out, those distractions can make for decent inspiration too.
Thank you, Rommy!
those distractions can be pretty helpful too. π
