glimpse

glimpse
will the
dark grey skies
part
turn to a shade
of blood
a shifting wind
bearing anguish
regrets
sins
so cold
so freezing
even though
a
smoking carpet
of burning offerings
glowing embers
ashes
swirling
swirling
at your
bare feet

When hell is not a myth, the fear is real
*
from “A Glimpse” by Samara Spence
I was inspired by the lines from the above poem (and also an awful dream I once had). This is a prompt from the Bibliomancy Oracle. It can work in bizarre ways.

Appropriate indeed..and I absolutely agree with your words "When hell is not a myth, the fear is real"...
Sumana, thank you!
appropriate, right? and those were not my words but from a poem by another writer. i was really struck by those words. :)
yikes...sounds a bit apocalyptic with the sky turning blood red...its been grey and rainy here it seems for weeks....and looking at our world it is easy to believe in a hell at times, just saying...
Yes a very good poem from the inspiration you found. I enjoyed it very much.
Good Morning! awesome to see a recent piece and a great one at that :-)

The image of that burning incense really show that fear can be real
Your poem asks a question that deserves an answer!
Scary place of the soul--a glimpse is right!
Brian,
this was supposed to be a vision of hell in our chinese beliefs, but yeah, looking at what is happening around the world...
G L Meisner
thank you! :)
ZQ,
ah my friend, awesome to see your recent post just a short while ago. i was working on a piece along those lines too. great minds (or fools) think alike. :D
Bjorn,
in our culture, we burn incense to the gods, or the departed.
Mary,
:)
i seem to have left it unanswered.
Audrey,
just before i hit the "publish' button, i changed the title to "glimpse". (the original was a much longer title) :)
enjoyed this my friend
hey Ashok, thanks!
glad to hear from you. :)
Whoa! We do send up pleas, don't we?!
we are merely mortals. :)
There's just something about your words 'a shifting wind bearing anguish'. You really got me with this one. I enjoyed my visit to your space today :)
hi Torie, thanks for the visit! :)
Pretty dark stuff! Weird dream you were having.
strangely, it was quite vivid. :(
