This Is What We Said

This Is Just To Say

I have eaten
The plums
That were in
The icebox

And which
You were probably
For breakfast

Forgive me
They were delicious
So sweet
And so cold

This is a famous poem by William Carlos Williams.

DeadPoet, a moderator at on-line poetry forum
Dead Poet's Society (Singapore), suggested that forumites write and post a version of this poem for a poetry exercise.

The response was pretty good. The geniuses sent in some really fun and wacky stuff.I would like to share with you some of the more interesting ones,in my opinion.

But first, my version:

I have eaten
the plums
that were
in the fridge.

You were what,
saving them
for breakfast?

Too bad.
They were sweet,
and so cold,
just like you.

Cool !

And this piece from the man, DeadPoet himself.

You have eaten
the what
that were
in the icebox?

I was saving
them for
the damn rats!

Forgive me,
they were deadly
sweet yes
but still deadly

This gem from Bluesky_Liz :

I have eaten
The plums
That were in
The icebox

to make space
for the lychee
and longans
I just bought

Forgive me
but you need
to buy
a bigger fridge

And finally a wacky one from the man who was death :

I have eaten
The whole icebox
Only plums
Are left.

I guess
I won't need lunch
For dinner

Plug left inside
My insides

Hey DP,
I was thinking along the same line too, hehe.
Share a good thing with everyone.

Why don't you lift it and post it in DPS(S)? :)
