2016

It has been quite a bleary year, but still kind.

2016

as footprints in the sand
that will be erased by the tides
so do the past years go

and do we appreciate we lived
a little longer
by a leap second?

we do make very strange decisions as a collective
so the guns are no more silent as last year's
the princess of the galaxy is gone
we do fear the ceiling falling
the want ads are ambiguous
there is no more beer
in the fridge

but let us not be anchored down
by fear and apathy
fear of the other
fear of the unknown
we will live
for the tomorrow
for the sunlight
for the ones we cared.
deep roots do not fear frost

Happy New Year, dsnake!

So true, 2016 maybe a not so good year, we should not forget it right away. It could be an inspiration to all of us as we meet 2017.

I fear the frost of fear that keeps us home with the six packs feeling blessed with more life while the planet falls apart!. Power Poem.

The end of a very tough year. But we must soldier-on - now is not the time to allow ourselves to become anchored down by fear and apathy. We must remind ourselves that many - in the past - managed to turn the tide on dark days, by continuing to push on with hope in their hearts.

Susan,

your comment provides another perspective to the poem. that to be apathetic is akin to be a accessory to the crime.
yes, we cannot be the ostrich head in the sand while the predators circle us.

Wendy,

it was a tough year, in many ways. some are already predicting doom for the coming years.
but let's not be disheartened by the naysayers. yes, even in the dark days, the tides can be turned.
